A record 23 teams completed the afternoon's Southern Cross round (90 arrows @ 55m). We will refrain from going on about Eden's fine 5th-in-a-row record scoring win in the Compound 1st Division... but here's a picture of the happy team that they'd like to share with us. 2004 State Field Championships Some 33 archers attended the State Field Championships. The Adelaide Archery Club's Field Championships were also conducted in parallel with the event. The day started with breakfast at the venue. Perfect conditions prevailed throughout the day with a pleasant 25oC temperature. The course was suitably challenging including the "hop the log" shot. The course was varied by setting it up over 16 targets, which meant shooting 8 of the targets twice (at differing distances each time) and 8 of the targets only once. An interesting concept! The groups moved well during the day without any major holdups. The barbecue at the end topped off a perfect day in "Eden". Alas, no pictures.... we were all too busy enjoying ourselves! 2004 State Target Championships If someone would care to provide information about the event, it will happily be inserted here. It is understood it was a bit breezy on the day. 2004 Philadelphia Tournament In warm conditions, David Balmer fom Port Pirie blew the previous record for this event out of the water by over 100 points with a powerhouse performance - starting with an unbelievable 264 at 100 metres. And spare a thought for 2nd place Pat Coughlan who also broke the record but, alas, "no cigar". 2004 Australia Day Field Tournament In absolutely perfect conditions, when the temperature did not exceed 27 degrees C, the shoot was conducted in a typically relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Even the resident koala lent his voice of approval to the day's activities! Click here to view pictures of the day's shooting. |
