Future Developments

There have been many request to improve the TargetPlot software.   We will continue to develop the product, keeping the software easy to use while adding advanced features for elite shooters.

A few of the future plans include;

More functions in the PC application to allow data entry and maintenance.
Different languages, French, Spanish and German.
Palm style conduit for two way Hotsync functions.

The improvements to TargetPlot may take a long time..., please be patient. Any ideas and comments from
archers/shooters will help in the development of a better product.

v 4.2 - released 2nd September 2002

This release contains a few bug fixes in the Import Export and Delete functions on the PC, and also fixes a fatal error in the Palm application.

v 4.1 - released 1st July 2002

The new features include;

Desktop software
Lots more selection criteria and analysis features on the Desktop.
Import and export of CSV files.
Step through display of entry, shot number, label, or target number.
  Delete Sessions option.
Print Session, will now work for all dpi and page sizes.

Session Details

Details now include a title, and the date and category can be modified at any time.
The session distance can be any number in metre's, yards or feet.
Over 90 different target faces to choose from including FITA, NFAA, ISSF and NRA.
16 different scoring systems used in Archery and the Shooting sports.
The Face Size can be any integer number in millimetres, centimetres, or inches.
Number of Shots per Entry increased from 6 to 24 shots.
Standard sessions can be set up and selected in the session details screen. This automatically fills in the distance, target, and number of shots to quickly create a new session.
Custom fields from 1 to 80 allow user defined text as the field name. The field value can be a Tickbox (on/off), Slider (0-10), or a Number (0 - 32,767).
Match Play opponent scores can be tracked end by end. The Opponent names are saved within the TargetPlot application instead of in the Address book.
Rounds of up to seven session can be tracked, showing total hits, tens, x's, and the total score.
The notes area has been extended to allow up to 4000 characters, with a scroll bar.
When a note is attached to the session, a small note icon is displayed on the three main screens, TargetPlot, Score Sheet, and Entry Details. This will allow quick reference to the notes at any time.
To navigate to different sessions, the "Go to Session" will list all sessions by date, with the distance and score to make selection easy. The go to date is still available, and in both cases the go to feature is not restricted to the selected category on screen.

TargetPlot screen

The TargetPlot title bar will display the user entered session title.
New zoom to score ring selection, with scroll arrows either side of a selection button.
Grey scale is used to represent each colour ring of the target.

Score Sheet screen
The shot value displayed will try to fit all shots from 1 to 24 on screen. This will put the scores in a small font if more than 14 shots are in each end.
The memory function will add up Hits, 10s, and Xs, to be displayed in bold at the bottom of the screen.
The Palm command function '/' will show a target icon and score sheet icon to switch between these screens. And the navigation between screens should return you to that selected screen when returning from the entry details or any other dialog box.

Entry Details
Navigate through the ends in the current session using the up down arrows.
The Undo button to step back through any recent changes made to the entry.
Scroll through the shots with the arrows at the top and bottom of the score boxes.
Each shot can record the score, a label (0-25,A-Z), and the target number (0-24).
Tap on the score box to change or delete the shot details.
The label or target can be automated to popup on each shot entry. See Preference options.

Display Options
The cross type can be x, +, o, shot number, label, or target number in a small font.
The shot, label or target can be highlighted in a large bold font.
Number score zones can be top and bottom, as well as left and right.
There is an option to turn on/off the colour and grey scale.

With the new version of Delphi, we made a lot of improvements in the Desktop PC application. The Palm was also developed to include 3 arrow ends, and more display options.

Windows Help File on the Desktop PC application.

v 2.0 - Y2K fix, released January 2000

The first version of the TargetPlot PC application was written in Delphi 3 (not Y2K ready), so we had to upgrade to the latest version, Delphi 5 to be Y2K compliant.  The new compiler introduced a few new problems, and over the new year holiday we did a lot of work to keep our TargetPlot users working okay.

v 1.3 - First Public Release, July 1999

We decided to improve TargetPlot to commercial standard and prepare some promotional material for a launch at the FITA Outdoor Target World Championships in Riom, France July 1999. The commercial release of TargetPlot generated a lot of interest and a few more sales.

Version 1.3 contained the basic functions of plotting arrows on a target, including;
Creating new sessions of up to 36 arrows at one distance.
Entry of session details including weather conditions, technical and psychological goals.
Free hand notes for each session.
Plotting each arrow on the screen in groups of six shots per entry.
Display preferences to change the way the target and arrows are displayed on the Palm.
Backup of shooting data to the PC.
Analysis on the PC screen of selected shooting data.
Export and Printing functions from the PC.

v 1.0 - First Limited Release, February 1998

In 1997, TargetPlot started as an idea to replace paper group maps with an electronic system. The original idea was to make the electronic recording device ourselves, but then we saw a Pilot 5000 organiser. We did a bit of research and decided that it would be a good platform to develop our idea. So we purchased a Palm Pilot Professional and started development.

The first release went to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Archery program.  After a  month of use by the archers, they requested a few new features (and bug fixes) to fine tune the software.  The archers reaction was always positive.  They found TargetPlot to be an easy to use replacement to previous paper scoring systems.
